ZenBe not a hype
Why should you get another email address? If you’re like me, you already have enough to keep track of. But why should you use ZenBe? Just for the very nice and usable interface should be enough, but ZenBe collects all your information needs on one page. Google tries to do much the same, but not with such ease and such a sleek interface. Where Google has much of the same options, like calendar and email, they are not integrated the same way as they are in ZenBe.
ZenBe, give you email, and the option to use other (POP) email accounts you have, and get the all in on inbox. You can also use other email addresses as your outgoing email address, that way your contacts don’t have to learn/get another email address to keep track of.
I’ve just started to use ZenBe, but I’ve no problem seeing my self using this as an primary email client - but just not yet. Although ZenBe is in beta state and is not ready for the masses, it’s still a very good Web 2.0 application. But it is in a beta state, and I’ll have to get used to it to be able to use it as my primary application dealing with emails.
I’ll try to post more about ZenBe as I learn more about the way this application works and I get to use it more.
But I’ll say this; this is a darn good beta application :-)
ZenBe with WordPress and bbPress
The new hype, ZendBe(.com), is using both WordPress and bbPress on their site.
And since it’s almost impossible to get an invite, it has to be cool - right? Oh well, I’ll get to try someday ;-)
WP-Gravatar a bit on hold
The summer is almost here and we’re having a beautiful spring. The temperature is in almost 20 degrees celsius. And that is not common where I live (Bergen, Norway), so I’ve chosen to put (most) of my plugin development on hold, and concentrate on working in the garden (I have a lot to do there).
I’ll check in on the support forum once or twice a day, and I’ll try to follow up on major bugs.
When it comes to other plugins, I might do some work, but I’ll not make any promises :-)
I’ll come back strong when the leafs changes color, and the fall storms hit our coast!

Gravatars and bbPress
When version 0.9 of bbPress was released, Gravatar was included as a integrated part of the system, just as WordPress. Although I really like that, I felt there was something missing. As you can read if you follow that link, I made a “hack” to the core files. And as we all know, thats not the best thing to do.
I’ve now released a plugin that lets you alter the size of the Gravatar. But the plugin also lets you set your own default Gravatar. You can choose from your own image, Wavatar, Identicon or monsterID. You also set the Gravatar rating with this plugins admin page.
The plugin overrides bbPress’s gravatar system on every aspect, except that you still have to choose if you’ll show gravatars at all in the systems ooption page. All other options regarding Gravatars on that page is ignored.

New version of WP-Gravatar
I’ve finished a new version of the plugin WP-Gravatar. The changes in this version are;
- Support for Wavatar, Identicon and monsterID
- OpenAvatar out of beta
- OpenAvatar, Wavatar, Identicon and monsterID now in the Recent comment Widget along with regular Gravatars
- Fixed some small bugs and typos
The Gravatar system for showing Wavatar, Identicon and monsterIDs is just plain old fun! It gives your blog a funny new feature. I read Matt’s post about them, and decided to implement them in this plugin. So jump over to the WordPress plugin directory and get your new version :-)

Normally I just delete those mails (it’s not the first one), but this one… Maybe it is because it’s Sunday, maybe it’s because I’m tired, but I found this one amusing :-)
bbPress 0.9.0.2 and WordPress 2.5.1
This last week, both bbPress and WordPress came in new versions. Both upgrades take care of an important security vulnerability. The vulnerability has not been disclosed to the public, yet.
For WordPress the upgrade also features over 70 other fixes, such as upgrading TinyMCE to version 3.0.7, improving performance for the dashboard and writing posts and pages. There is also a fix for improving Widget handling, but this backfired a bit, as the new version introduced a new problem. There are now some problems moving widgets.
For bbPress, the other fixes are mainly small changes and a few bug fixes. But for those of you with integrated bbPress and WordPress, you have to upgrade your WordPress before you upgrade your bbPress. You most likely have to update your “WordPress database secret” in bbPress admin after the upgrades.
I’ve upgraded 3 blogs and 1 bbPress installation, with no problems, so it should be fairly safe to go ahead. The WordPress Widget moving bug, is annoying, but I at least, can move my widget around, just move your mouse carefully :-)
Like OS X Leopard?
Well, then you’d like Leopard Admin for WordPress 2.5+. Teddy Hwang’s Leopard Admin Theme changes the look of your WordPress (2.5+) to a Leopardish look’n'feel. It uses icons and colors from the OS and rearranges some of the UI elements of your backend.
Some will argue that the changes are for the better, and some will not. I just like the way ot looks :-) If you’d like to give it a try, jump over to the plugins page, and get your own copy.
WordPress MU 1.5 RC1
Donncha has tagged WordPressµ 1.5 as RC1. This is not a version he recommends using on a live server, there are still bugs in this code.
I’ve installed it on my test server, and it’s working just fine. The new 2.5 menus are in place, the multiple file uploading, the gallery function - and it’s all working fine.
I upgraded a 1.3.3 version and had no problems with that.
