calDav on Ubuntu

Well, after some trial and error, I now have calDav running on my server - and working with iCal :-) This is all very nice, but there is still one thing that eludes me - how do I get my iPhone (3G 2.1) to use it… As far as I can tell, it is not possible to add an appointment to a subscribed calendar on the iPhone - you can just add appointments to calendars that resides in your iCal - and yes, I’m assuming every one in the world are using OS X and iCal :-)
If anyone knows if this is a bug an undocumented feature - or if it is possible to do what I want, leave a comment and educate me!
But, hey, I got the darn calDav to work :-)
